La Sirene is a dark restaurant (I thought it was closed as I walked up to it), the view outside is of the Holland Tunnel, the menu has lots of exclamation points (regarding profiteroles: “No need of traduction everybody knows that desert!”), and there is no wine list (also no corkage fee!), but the place is romantic (everyone was dressed up) and dinner was lovely (goat cheese tart, followed by pork with morels and cream, then those profiteroles with dark chocolate sauce that, the menu points out, is not Hershey’s but Callebaut!). I left happy to have discovered it.
