The unassuming approach to Tribeca Treats might not prepare you for all the pink sprinkles and chocolate smells inside this bakery and store (they have a nice selection of dainty, funny birthday cards). The cupcakes and cookies are also dainty—but serious. And there’s a cookbook, just released this week, called Sweet Chic

Funny, yesterday was M's birthday and since we did the big party on Sunday and I baked a cake for that, we stopped by a Davis Square (Somerville) cupcake shop yesterday to get her a birthday cupcake for after dinner. We were on our way back from picking up some PF Changs in Kendall Square-- which was her birthday dinner request--and almost missed it. The place is called Kick Ass Cupcakes and they are. But it was the same thing---an unassuming, urban block where the small, generic storefronts all blend together. But she was certainly happy to find it!
