16th Street and Union Square West

Union Square Cafe feels (to me) like a California restaurant (a good thing) stuck in New York. It’s casual (but not really), the staff is super friendly, and the food is always better than you remember. (Three words, especially, not to forget: crispy pork confit.)
And, in celebration of the restaurant’s 25th birthday, you can read chef Michael Romano’s restaurant haiku here. Even better: read some of his recipes here.
