Walking into ABC Carpet and Home is like entering a fairy tale (my version of one, that is). Those towering, shimmering stacks of silk and velvet pillows! The cases of dainty, gem-encrusted jewelry. The ceramics, the chandeliers, the stationery. Nothing is affordable; everything is beautiful.

Along these lines, but from a 4 year old's perspective...we had to go the mall yesterday to get a blender (I am not a lover of the mall, but I figured we could get some walking in--in air conditioning--by going there and parking at the other end) and M walked by all the toy stores, heading straight for her fairy tale store, Williams-Sonoma. I hardly ever shop there, but she loves to cook and bake, and loves all the requisite tools. We got the melon baller we needed and she was happy :-)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You probably can't start stockpiling the cooking gadgets too early.
ReplyDeletesigh... there used to be a time when you went to ABC to get something great that WAS affordable. At least back in the old days when they leased old, unwanted warehouse spaces around the 5 boroughs to sell their wares. High rents in great locations have to be passed on to us, I guess.
