On a calm, sunny, springlike, and lovely day in the city (that is, yesterday), there was this reminder not to get too comfortable, to remember the necessity of difficulty. (Here’s where you can learn to sail in Manhattan.)
It's funny you should post this today. Yesterday was a lovely spring day here as well and I was moved to get out my Cure CD's. I love listening to the Cure on both beautiful days and dreary days, though the group would seem to be better suited to the dreary days. But, of course, without the dreary days, the beautiful ones wouldn't seem so beautiful (take San Diego for example :-) Then I remembered the Shelley quote on the liner notes for their "Wish" CD: "We look before and after, and pine for what is not: our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught; our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought." And it all came together :-)

ReplyDeleteNice! And the Cure is good in any weather. :-)
