34th Street and Broadway

This strip of green looked like something vintage and intriguing (I thought it might be related to the 1920s subway cars), but it turned out to be something newfangled and whimsical. It’s an “urban musical instrument,” called “Reach,” from Christopher Janney. Wave your hands in front of the small holes (the structure is pretty long) and different sounds come out of the speakers, creating music while you wait for the train.

Murray Street and West Broadway

The first Christmas tree of the season spotted from my apartment window. (The big tree got lit up last night, too. Watch it here.)
